General Information

Endura Sports Energy Gels are a convenient and delicious concentrated energy source, providing 26g of dual source carbohydrates combined with energy boosting caffeine.

Endura Sports Energy Gels are a convenient and delicious concentrated energy source, combining two specialised carbohydrate forms for maximum carb absorption (up to a 50% increase) and a combination of fast and slow release energy. Each gel contains 26g of carbs with a handy dose of energy boosting caffeine. The convenient sachets are perfect for carrying on you during training and racing to keep glycogen levels up, maintain vital energy reserves and prevent hitting the wall.

For each gel consumed, look at drinking around 250-300 ml of water (an isotonic solution*) to optimise absorption and minimise gastric upsets. Some people may find drinking so much water in one hit difficult. If this is the case, take the gel over 10-20 minutes and have small sips with every portion, to reach around 250-300 ml in total.

SUSTAINABILITY

Rating: Moderate

  1. Maltodextrin Typically derived from corn, rice, or wheat; maltodextrin’s sustainability depends on farming practices. Industrial-scale farming can lead to soil degradation, water usage, and pesticide application.
  2. Purified Water Water purification processes can be energy-intensive and contribute to resource depletion, especially in areas facing water scarcity.
  3. Fructose Similar to maltodextrin, fructose is derived from crops like corn. Large-scale agricultural production impacts soil health and biodiversity.
  4. Flavour (Nature Identical 1%) Nature-identical flavors are chemically synthesized to mimic natural flavors, reducing the need for natural resource extraction. However, they still require energy for production.
  5. Guar Gum Derived from the guar bean; this ingredient has a relatively low environmental footprint if sustainably sourced. Guar farming supports rural economies in India.
  6. Xanthan Gum Produced via microbial fermentation, xanthan gum requires energy and resources, but its overall impact is lower compared to synthetic thickeners.
  7. Citric Acid Produced through fermentation, citric acid is relatively sustainable, though industrial production may involve energy-intensive processes.
  8. Potassium Chloride Potassium chloride is mined or synthetically produced. Mining processes can have environmental impacts, but it’s considered less harmful than some other minerals.
  9. Sodium Chloride (Salt) While widely available, salt production can harm ecosystems, particularly in coastal areas due to habitat alteration.
  10. Potassium Sorbate (Preservative) Synthesized chemically, its environmental impact is low compared to natural alternatives but still involves resource usage.
  11. Sodium Benzoate (Preservative) Chemically synthesized, sodium benzoate is relatively sustainable due to its minimal resource demands during production.
  12. Caffeine Caffeine production, especially if derived from coffee or tea, involves intensive farming, water use, and energy. Synthetic caffeine is slightly more sustainable but still resource-intensive.
